Have you started getting ready for Spring? It’s April and we feel the need to thoroughly clean our homes and get our yards ready. We feel the need to open windows to air out those winter smells that have accumulated. But we dread those allergies blowing into our homes and getting everywhere. Since the strange weather that all of us have experienced this winter not all pollen has been frozen. The normal winter weather usually lowers the pollen for Spring. Well that’s not the case this year. Pollen is very high around the whole US and may be like that the whole year.

One of the things I do is open all my windows unless it’s really windy out then I don’t. I wait about 10 min. and start cleaning. I am a cleaning nut….I start with vacuuming first, then dust, finally vacuum again along with using a shop vac to vacuum the entire perimeter of the room and all lamp shades. I wash all my curtains or thoroughly vacuum them if they can’t be washed. My final step is steam cleaning the carpets and furniture. Of course you spend a whole weekend doing this, so pick one that isn’t busy, which isn’t easy for most people.

I can say if you try to span those steps throughout several weekends you will be chasing dust for every and never feel your ahead. You could actually do one room a weekend, which I have done. Getting the whole family involved not only helps you, but gets your kids a sense of accomplishment. Let them know how important it is to keep the home clean, allergy free and germ free. Or, if you have kids that just look at you like your nuts then use a little persuasion and tell them no games, no computer time or TV until they help.

Good Luck to everyone and happy cleaning!

Did spring come early for you? It did for most of the Mid-West all the way the East Coast for the Month of March. I couldn’t believe the temperatures throughout the day. 80 degrees in March unbelievable and I can’t remember when I’ve ever seen warm weather like that. In just a few days my flowers started to sprout up and all I could say was OH NO. I just knew that the warm weather wouldn’t last and my spring flowers would eventually die. I have been very surprised that my spring flowers are still blooming. Even though our temperatures have returned to normal most of Spring Flowers have bloomed or look frozen in time.
